Club Cultural Rides & Special Events
Logan Cycling Club has some rich traditions which displays the culture of the club. In addition to our regular Racing, Training and CycloSportif rides we hold Special event rides that build camaraderie and reinforce the mate-ship culture we hold dear.
Century RideThe milestone that is breached by every cyclist at one point on their journey. Logan Cycling Club hosts the annual Century ride to support members wanting to take that extra step on the journey, normally in July.
For non-members wanting to join in we recommend purchasing a recreational licence through the Cycling Queensland website. This will cover you with insurance and support from the club. Neville Jordan Memorial RideOn the first Saturday in November the club holds the annual Neville Jordan Memorial Ride, approx 100km return ride from Springwood to Paradise Point. A loved and respected member of Logan Cycling Club, Neville passed away doing what he loved. The ride is a time to reflect on the things that matter and to remember the influence that Neville had on the community. We would do well to be inspired by his life.

Plum Pudding RidePaul Kelly-Taylor (The Silver Fox) is renowned for his famous plum puddings. Each year at Christmas members gather together to share this treat at a common table. It’s a time to celebrate the year as a club, have a laugh, enjoy the festive season and indulge in some pudding goodness.
The ride takes the usual time slot of the Club Coffee ride on a nominated weekend in December. |
Vale; Neville Jordan
Neville was born in Burnie Tasmania on 24/06/49 the first son to Lloyd & Lela Jordan with 3 brothers Robert, Graeme, Noel & sister, Bernice.
Burnie is a strong cycling town, famous for its New Years day sports & the Burnie wheel race. Neville started cycling in 1964 and came through the ‘hard knock’ days of cycling. In 1967 ‘Nifty’ won both Tasmanian junior track & road titles, then went on to represent Tasmania in Townsville at the Australian titles. He brought home one title but lost others due to his aggressive riding, a trait that endured Neville’s career, always a very competitive & passionate cyclist. In the 70s Neville won the 180km Launceston to Hobart road race, an event that has continued to endure for 110 years. After coming to Brisbane in 1994, as a handler for the world masters games, he rekindled his love for the sport, later joining the Logan City Amateur Cycling Club. While with the club he completed the 800km Sydney to Gold Coast charity ride, raising money for the Father Riley’s “kids off the street” program. Neville is survived by his wife Christine & stepsons Ben, Josh, Andrew & Graham We will all miss him dearly |
